This was the upper corner of an apartment building downtown. With a few tweaks and a bit of a perspective change, it quickly became something that looked closer to an abstract 3D render than a building.
Last year, I got to drive to and visit Nashville, TN, for the first time. I went with my good friend Fan, who is from China. We went up there over our Thanksgiving break, and had the city to ourselves on the first day. Nobody else on the streets except for us adventurers. I captured this on day two, when we hit all of the museums one after another. This statue outside of Nashville's Symphony is a gorgeous manifestation of music. They commissioned the statue from a sculptor as a personification of the sound of music. She sits right on the corner where she can see the Nashville Music City Center and Country Music Hall of Fame. With such a great vantage, the spirit of music must be very pleased to have found such a home!
This was one of the few pictures I liked from an otherwise disappointing day of shooting. It was also the only photoshoot I've ever really been disappointed in all of the results. The client was offered a free reshoot sometime, but I was really unhappy. Still, I caught this from an oblique angle underneath some trees. There are square stepping stones not far from one another, and in the right light and angles appear more like monoliths over a lake.
