With the right exposure lengths, even the rush and pull of high tide can become a calm flow, appearing to pass serenely over a collection of rocks at the shore. This was a two second exposure, taken using a Canon 50mm lens locked down to f/22.
Everybody has a list of things they'd like to do before they die. Me, I'd like to photograph a set of things. The Swiss Alps. Mount Ranier. Half-Dome. Earth, from orbit, to name a few. I found the list of things people wanted to do interesting. We saw this at a downtown arts festival, and some things definitely give food for thought.
Lighthouses were one of the few ways to safely guide people throughout North Carolina's treacherous waterways. From the lethal shores of the Outer Banks to the Graveyard of the Atlantic, to the freshwater rivers, North Carolian claimed many ships and boats. Roanoke River Light is one such lighthouse. Originally a lightship, several lighthouses were built over the years. The current light was built in 1887, and was moved to a new location in 1955. In 2007 it was moved again to its current location in Edenton, NC.
