This was a capture from one of this year's ice storms. The water was flowing beautifully over the rocks. I did have the misfortune of falling on the ice once, because it was invisible.
With the right exposure lengths, even the rush and pull of high tide can become a calm flow, appearing to pass serenely over a collection of rocks at the shore. This was a two second exposure, taken using a Canon 50mm lens locked down to f/22.
I had previously published a photograph of Eno River's Fews Ford in the middle of sumemr in glorious green and blue regalia. This time, it is in the dead of winter, taken at sunset with an infrared camera. I recently converted a Sony NEX-5 to take infrared photographs, and I must say, I'm pleased with the results.
